A reflexion

beginning

Looking back, I feel fortunate to have been nurtured by a supportive family, surrounded by good friends, and raised in a positive environment. From an early age, my curiosity led me to engineering, and I was instantly captivated. That fascination never left me. As a child, I spent countless hours exploring basic mechanics by building with construction bricks, understanding fundamental fluid dynamics by creating simple mechanisms like a backhoe with popsicle sticks and syringes, and delving into basic control systems and communication engineering through countless modifications of RC toys. My early experiments also extended to primary chemical reactions, where I spent hours experimenting with fireworks, flammable liquids, and various chemicals. Observing nature helped me grasp fundamental physics and biology, while my interest in electronics led me to create numerous simple circuits through self-teaching.

passion

This journey of discovery eventually brought me to robotics, where I found my true passion. To pursue this passion, I committed to earning a diploma in mechatronics at the Technical University of Dresden to enhance my technical skills and future prospects. I made this decision as early as the 8th grade and began preparing by taking German courses and dedicating time to sharpening my knowledge, both in hard skills and soft skills related to robotics. I have always dreamed of becoming a robotics researcher, where I could dedicate my knowledge and expertise to shaping the future of robotics for the greater good. To bring this dream to life, I began my journey with an internship and then worked as a student at Fraunhofer IWU. Today, I continue my path as a robotics researcher there, contributing to the advancement of tomorrow’s robotics technology.

vision

Entrepreneurship runs deep in my veins as a Chinese-Indonesian, and my greatest aspiration is to become a driving force in the robotics industry by co-founding innovative robotics companies. I was fortunate to realize this dream early on, as I co-founded my first international robotics company with research fellows under supervision of Dr. Bdiwi who share the same courage and vision for the future of robotics. We firmly believe that robotics technology should be accessible to everyone. To achieve this, robotics must be made simple and safe for all to deploy, and this guiding principle motivates our efforts every day.

I firmly believe that pure talent alone isn’t enough to endure the challenges of life. It takes resilience, passion, dedication, and a clear vision to achieve success in pursuing one’s dreams.

Jayanto Halim (蔡建国) is an AI and Robotics researcher and a PhD Candidate at Fraunhofer IWU. His research focuses on intuitive robot programming, human-robot-collaboration, functional safety and development of intelligent robotic systems. He is also the co-founder of BOTFELLOWS, a high-tech robotics company dedicated to making robotics technology safer and simpler for everyone. In addition to his professional endeavors, he is recognized as young influencers in the Indonesian robotics community, with many experiences and awards from regional, national, and international robotics competitions.
